Midnight Hour Cloudcasts

We've added two more of these since we last posted about them, making 6 in all so far. You can find them here at Midnight Hour. #5 is loosely a telephone themed selection of tunes, with contributions from Eddie Bishop, T Bone Walker, Werly Faiburn & Gil Scott-Heron among others. #6 was inspired by the Delroy Wilson cover of the Bacharach / David tune "Rain from the Skies". It features 18 "Sky" tunes in total, including the original Adam Wade version of the song, Jackie Wilson, Horace Andy, Bobby Charles & Vernon Dalhart.

They're a labour of love - hope you enjoy listening.

Live Session - Richard Hawley

God's Jukebox featured 2 sessions from this artist in 2008 and 2010.  Now there are gigs to see this Autumn as Richard Hawley sets out to play songs from his most recent release.

Here's a lovely version of our favourite Hawley tune:

While here we see how well he can do other people's songs:

Featured Artist - Frankie Miller (Part One)

Although his recording career was interrupted by two years of military service in 1951 and by 1965 had all but come to an end, the country tunes Frankie Miller did release show what a fine honky-tonk voice he had. In more recent years he deservedly got the Bear Family re-issue treatment and could be found gigging in Texas earlier this year, age 80.

Featured Album - Gozalo! - Bugalu Tropical, Vol 4. (Part One)

Released last year by Vampisoul as a double album and also for digital download, like the previous 3 volumes, this is a great set of 60's / 70's Peruvian music. Here are 3 tunes with more to come. Enjoy it!

Aural Massage - Calexico - Tulsa Telephone Book (1999)

Calexico and Tom T. Hall have been featured artists since we began posting, so we were delighted to come across this Calexico cover of a Tom T. song from a compilation that appeared a while back. It's a different take on a great original, as all good covers should be.
Calexico have a new CD out later this month which they are supporting with gigs in Europe and America. Here are two songs from the new CD, recorded in New Orleans.
A live version of Tulsa Telephone Book is among the tunes that feature in the most recent Midnight Hour cloudcast.
