Featured Album - Jamaica - Rhythm And Blues, 1956-61 (Part One)

Like the Calypso CD set from Trinidad we featured in January, this is another wonderful trawl from Fremeaux through the archive of historic Caribbean recordings, this time highlighting the significance of American R&B in the development of Jamaican popular music. It was released this Summer to good reviews and comes filled with great recordings by well known pioneers like Laurel Aitken, Rico Rodriguez, Owen Gray and Derrick Morgan, along with a few less celebrated performers.
