Featured Album - R&B Humdingers Vol 11 - (Part One)

Released at the start of last month on Vee-Tone, and with another due shortly, this is a great R&B set compiled by Mark Lamarr.  Each of these posts begin with a tune from Volume 11, while earlier Volume's provide the remainder.  First up from Lavern Baker is a killer.

A singer and producer, Jamaican born Derrick Harriott started out recording with doo-wop group The Jiving Juniors, with hits for both Coxsone Dodd and Duke Reid.  From 1962 he began producing tunes for other artists on his own record labels, many regarded as classics of the Rocksteady era.  This first post features some early Jiving Juniors tunes.

Aural Massage - D Glover,G Crockett & G Glover - Latin Soul Strut (2006)

Released on a Record Kicks  compilation six years ago, I can't tell you much about this tune or the artists, other than it's a hot slice of Latin Boogaloo and, as I hope you agree, a worthy addition to the massage table. Anyone who knows more, please feel free to tell us.
