Featured Album - Dim Lights, Thick Smoke & Hillbilly Music - 1963

More Country Music classics from Bear Family Records, this time from 1963, including a youthful Bobby Bare and a horribly out of synch but still stunning Patsy Cline.

  1. I'm trying to find out whether Mark is doing any gigs this year. I didn't make any of the gigs last year. If anyone has this information I'd appreciate it. It would be interesting to go to a gig where good music was on.

  2. I agree with a previous poster who said they found it difficult to dislike ANY of the tracks Mark played in the last few years. This is rare. It's strange that there aren't more DJ's who are capable of doing this. I guess they sacrifice quality for all and sundry these days. He's more like an old-time 1950's DJ who is in love with the music. Where are the rest of them.

  3. Hello, I've heard a few of the god's jukebox shows and I thought they were brilliant. It's such a shame that the good music gets pushed to the side.
Some of the shows were thrilling and some were very good. We need more of this - it's a necessity for music fans to become aware of good music.
In approximately 1 hour (3 months if you count psycology) I will have played the single from Karen Dalton (original 1974 track) I am so happy yet it is only music. I wonder what Marc would make of this.

  4. Hi Katie,

I can't tell you but I am so unhappy with the state of musical politics today. I'm not sure about Karen Doulton because she's a bit depressive. But I share your opinions on nearly everything. Weird eh?

  5. I seriously require better music as well. Why don't we all band together and form a political party (except I'm not a UK resident).

  6. Ha that's really funny. The idea that we could all come together. Ha. Funny

  7. That's the single on again. Is it futile to listen to Karen Dalton 3/4 x times a day. Is this even possible? (?)
    Life could be so good.

  8. No, I want to start a political party. We would need about 3 at least members to be credible.
How do we start. You could email me.

  9. I'd just like to say, having been advised from friends of new stations, I'd just like to say bye bye forever to god's jukebox as it was really good.
I'm now turning my attentions to world radio stations very good indeed. I hope. We'll see. I love Mark but he has obviously made up his mind to do other things. Pity.

  10. Mark is the best DJ beside John Peel who actually is passionate about his subject. We require Mark to do his stuff or we may become faceless like radio 2 + radio 1.
